Obituary of Jacinta Moura Silva

Jacinta Moura Silva, age 87, of Monroe, beloved wife of the late Antonio da Silva, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 27, 2024 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 7, 1936 in Cortico, Montalegre, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Agostinho Santos Moura and Maria Fernandes Araujo Moura.

Known as Bernadette in her home town, she was the youngest of 7 children. Orphaned at the age of 12, she built her own home in Cortico by the age of 18. She married the love of her life Antonio in 1964 and together they emigrated to the United States to begin their new life. They worked hard and purchased their family home in the "Hollow" section of Bridgeport. Jacinta raised her family with patience and strength. She stayed home during the day to care for her children and home and worked evenings to support her family. She retired from the Jewish Home for the Elderly after over 20 years of dedicated service. Along with her husband, they created a home full of love, music and delicious food. She loved to entertain "company" and always had an amazing feast ready for everyone. She enjoyed Sunday dinners with her family and created memories to last a lifetime. Even after the passing of her husband, Jacinta continued to be a source of strength and inspiration for her family. The unconditional love she gave and the values she taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Jacinta will be truly missed by all.

Survivors include her three loving daughters, Mariana Silva Reis and her husband Antonio of Monroe, Lucia Silva Todice and her husband Gary of Shelton and Lisa Silva Rogers and her husband Peter of Fairfield, six cherished grandchildren, Antonio Silva Reis, Adriana Silva Reis, Peter Rogers Jr., Kristen Rogers, Ashley Rogers and Sophia Todice, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her six siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. directly at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
