Obituary of Pantaleon Montarro

Pantaleon "Leon" Bruno Montarro, age 89, beloved husband of Dora Diubaldo Montarro, of Trumbull, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on September 22, 1926, he was a son of the late Pasquale and Dora Favora Montarro. Mr. Montarro was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War in the 11th Airborne Unit. Before his retirement, he was an engineer at Sikorsky with over 46 years of dedicated service. Leon was a member and a Past Commander of the American Legion Post 141 and a 4th Degree Knight serving with St. Theresa Parish Council 8013, Trumbull. He was Trumbull's Man of the Year in 2002 for his humanitarian work. He was often seen selling poppies and Tootsie Rolls for the Knights of Columbus and American Legion. He was also the head usher at the 10:30 Mass at St. Theresa Church. In addition to his wife Dora of 57 years, he is survived by a daughter, Anna Moody and her husband Patrick of Trumbull, a son, Lawrence Montarro and Mazal Nahum of Trumbull, a brother, Pat Montarro and his wife Lena of Easton, two sisters, Mary Caldwell of Trumbull and Frances Demsick of Seymour, grandchildren, McKenna, Matthew, Jessica, Emma and Patrick, a special nephew, Sonny, as well as several additional nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his son, Michael Montarro, two brothers, Anthony and Bruno Montarro and four sisters, Catherine Perrone, Rosie Orlovsky, Yolanda Wessell and Theresa Montarro. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Theresa Church 5301 Main St., Trumbull on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment with Full Military Honors will follow in St. Monica Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
