Obituary of Joseph J. Simalchik

Joseph J. Simalchik, age 88, of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Irene Swatt Simalchik, died peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2015. Born in Pittston, Pennsylvania on March 25, 1927, he was a son of the late Michael and Mary Hovan Simalchik. Joe was a tool and die maker with General Electric Company for 43 years before his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW Post 10059 in Trumbull. Over the years, Joe was very active in the Trumbull Democratic party. He also was a devout Catholic and was an usher for many years at St. Theresa’s in Trumbull. Currently Joe was a resident of Middlebrooks Farms in Trumbull where he made many friends. Joe took great pleasure in tending to his home and garden. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include two daughters, Carol Bajoros and her husband Robert of Trumbull and Diane Simalchik of Norwalk, two grandchildren, Robert Bajoros and Jessica Bajoros, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Simalchik. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in St. John Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
