Obituary of Ventura Jose Ferreira

Ventura (Jose) Ferreira, age 71, longtime resident of Bridgeport, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Norwalk Hospital surrounded by his family. Born on January 26, 1944 in Vilela-Seca, Chaves, Portugal, he was a son of the late Antonio Ferreira & Josefina Coelho Ferreira. Upon coming to America, Ventura worked as a laborer with CT Union 665. He was a proud member of the Vasco da Gama Portuguese Club in Bridgeport, as well as an avid fisherman and a Benfica Soccer fan. He was a loving brother, father, and grandfather who will be truly missed by all who knew him. Ventura is survived by his three sons; Fernando M. Ferreira of Bridgeport, Paul M. Ferreira and his wife Charlene of Shelton and Steven M. Ferreira and his wife Melissa of Shelton; grandchildren Nicholas, Mia, Jake, and Brayden Ferreira; sisters Maria Pereira and her husband John of Shelton, Lucinda Lopes and her husband Armindo of Mineola, Long Island, and Lucilia Pereira of Mineola, Long Island; goddaughter Sandra Mota and many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, Manuel and Antonio Ferreira, and his former wife Maria Mota. Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Road, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
