Obituary of Joseph Michael Buckley

Joseph M. Buckley, Sr., age 77, of Oxford and formerly of Trumbull passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Carol Costanzo Buckley. Born in New Canaan on December 6, 1937, he was a son of the late William and Rosemary Andronaco Buckley, Sr. and stepson of the late Carmen Costanzo. Joseph was employed by Kaman Industrial Technologies Corporation where he worked in sales management for over 40 years. While living in Trumbull, he was an active member of Christ the King Church, serving on the building committee, teaching religious education classes and also as a Eucharistic Minister. He was proud to have served on the Trumbull Town Council and coach Trumbull Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. He was an avid golfer and also a huge fan of the New York Yankees and UConn Basketball programs. His greatest joy was being with his family and keeping his generous hand always ready to help anyone at any time. Joe's sense of humor, warm smile and kindness will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his beloved wife of nearly 52 years, other survivors include his children, Dana Legris and her husband Marc of Bethel, Kara Smith and her husband Mark of New Canaan and Joseph M. Buckley, Jr. and his wife Edanya of Terryville, his five cherished grandchildren, Joseph and Sophie Legris, Erica and Andrew Smith and Jakob Buckley and his brother, Michael Costanzo and his wife Tacy of CA. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by two brothers, William Buckley, Jr. and John Buckley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd., Oxford. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
