Obituary of Jane J. Bonvicini

Jane Casey Bonvicini, age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13, 2015 in her home. She was the loving wife of Thomas Bonvicini for 67 years. She was born in County Cork Ireland, on November 14, 1923 to the late Anthony and Bridget Casey. At the age of 6, Jane immigrated to the United States with her parents and 12 siblings and settled in the south end of Bridgeport. She was a resident of Trumbull for the past 40 years until recently relocating to Shelton. Jane was employed at and retired from the Southern New England Telephone Company after 20 years as a telephone operator and supervisor. Following her retirement, she volunteered for numerous organizations including the Discovery Museum, The Cambridge Health and Rehab Center, and St Joseph's Manor. Jane led a long, full and happy life surrounded by the family for which she was deeply proud. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four devoted daughters, whom she referred to as her "jewels": Mary Jane Maglione (Neil) of Salem, MA, Joan Bonvicini (Leah) of Seattle, WA, Kathleen Bonvicini of North Haven, Sheila Olcott (John) of Milford ; her nine cherished grandchildren, Adam Bonvicini Gschwender , Elizabeth and David Maglione, Adam, Kevin and Daniel Bonvicini, Olivia and Jacqueline DelPrete, and Shea Oliver; her brother and sister-in law, Guido and Carol Bonvicini; and countless nieces and nephews and loving friends. She was predeceased by her only son, Thomas J. Bonvicini, and her eight sisters and 4 brothers. Jane was an avid women's basketful fan – and loved to root for the underdog! She was extremely proud of her Irish heritage and loved to serenade those around her and touch their hearts. She opened her home to all and would never allow you to leave empty-handed. She had a soft heart and never turned away a pet that her children brought home. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of Saint Teresa's women's auxiliary. She was also a member of the Pioneers, The Gaelic American Club, and the Catholic War Veterans Women's Auxiliary. The Bonvicini Family would like to thank the staff at Benchmark Assisted Living at Split Rock, and VNA hospice for their compassionate and loving care and support to Jane and the entire family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
