Obituary of Jose A. Salgado

Jose Antonio Salgado, age 57, of Milford, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 11, 2015. Born in Sapiaos, Boticas, Portugal on June 5, 1957, he was a son of Aurelina Monteiro Salgado of Bridgeport and the late Albino Salgado. Jose immigrated to the United Sates in 1975, settling in Bridgeport. He was a machine operator in the Laborers Union for many years until 1991 when he opened Sapiaos Grocery Store. A hard working man, he enjoyed spending time in his garden, tending to his fig trees and loved to watch his soccer team, S.L. Benfica. But above all he was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, He enjoyed every moment spent with his family, especially his cherished granddaughter. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his beloved wife of 37 years, Maria, and his mother, survivors include two loving children, Jose D. Salgado and his wife Jennifer Jaques-Salgado of Orange and Rosa Ferreira and her husband Rolando of Bridgeport, an adored granddaughter, Anabella Ferreira, four brothers, Artur Salgado and his wife Aurora of France, Joao Salgado and his wife Josephina of MA, Acacio Salgado and his wife Lisa of Bridgeport and Carlos Salgado and his wife Ana of Oxford, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law and many dear friends. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Palmida Salgado. Funeral services will take place on Thursday April 16, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
