Obituary of Marguerite R. Rogers

Marguerite Basista Rogers, age 91, of Monroe, beloved wife of the late Hilary (Buddy) Rogers, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 4, 2015. Born in Bridgeport on December 26, 1923, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Belish Basista. She was an employee of Gaynor Electric for many years before her retirement. Marguerite was a strong family leader and a great Christian example to her family whom she loved and dedicated her life to. She was a great cook and enjoyed hosting many family dinners. She was an active parishioner and a 57 year member at St. Jude Church in Monroe. The family would like to thank Donna for her care and compassion as well as VITAS Hospice for their support. Survivors include four devoted children, Patrick Rogers and his wife Annette of Northford, David Rogers Sr. and his wife Donna of Lakeland, FL, Mary Lou Kellogg and her husband Richard of Monroe, Rosemarie Faust and her husband Peter of Naugatuck, 11 cherished grandchildren, Lee Ann Bronner, Patrick Rogers Jr., Christopher Rogers, Rachel Payne, Brandy Geiger, David Rogers Jr., Melissa, Michelle and Richard Kellogg and Heather Malash and Samantha Faust, 17 great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Marshall Zitney of Stratford, two sisters-in-law, Kay Veglio and her husband Otto and Mary Ann Rogers all of Bridgeport as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to her niece Diane Frank for the daily phone calls and undying love. She was predeceased by a brother, John Basista Jr. and three sisters, Mae Bruzenak, Ann Zitney and Frances Horvath. Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Jude Church, Monroe for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monroe. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1 - 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Food Pantry, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468.
