Obituary of Jose Teixeira Pereira

Jose Teixeira Pereira, age 59, of Trumbull and formerly of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on October 23rd surrounded by his loving family. Born in Negroes, Montalegre, Portugal on August 20, 1955, he was a son of Domingos Chaves Pereira of Trumbull and the late Lucinda Teixeira Pereira. Along with his family, Joe came to the United States in 1958 and settled in Bridgeport, where he spent most of his life until recently moving to Trumbull. He was employed by the City of Bridgeport, working in the sanitation department with 22 years of dedicated service. Joe enjoyed playing basketball at the Boys and Girls Club in Bridgeport, was an avid bowler and coached the North End Little League Seniors from 1993-1995, taking them to a State Championship. He truly enjoyed his time with his family and friends. Joe will truly be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his father, Domingos, survivors include two loving children, Joseph Pereira and his wife Danamarie and Elizabeth Felicione and her husband Louis all of Trumbull, their mother, Ana Maria Vaz Pereira of Bridgeport; four cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Jesse, Sean and Owen Felicione. He also leaves to cherish his memory his brothers and sisters, Maria Teixeira, Luisa Dias and her husband Domingos, Antonio Pereira, all of Trumbull, Elizabeth Teixeira and her husband Jorge of Monroe and Armando Pereira of Trumbull, as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law Candido Teixeira. Funeral services will take place on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Augustine Cathedral, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1-5 p.m.
