Obituary of Mary I. Colangelo

Mary Schindo Colangelo, age 102, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Andrew J. Colangelo, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Rye, NY on July 2, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Immaculata Riccio Schindo. Before her retirement, Mary was an assistant in the engineering department at Avco Lycoming. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling, reading and playing bingo at church and at the senior center. Mary always had a meal ready for anyone who stopped by to visit. Survivors include her three loving children, Andrew P. Colangelo and his wife Carol of Lake Mary, FL, Pauline Ostrosky of Monroe, Kathleen Yeager and her husband Clay of Oxford, nine grandchildren, Michael Colangelo, Christine Ruehling, Todd Colangelo, Leigh Anne Colangelo, Scott Ostrosky, Kristen Ostrosky, Denise Russell, Dean Yeager, Jill D'antona and 18 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Robert Cioppa, eight brothers and a sister. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Margaret Mary Church, 380 Long Hill Ave., Shelton on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Chapel Mausoleum. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
