Obituary of Elizabeth A. Collins

Elizabeth Albright (Somogyi) Collins, age 88, of Shelton passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at her residence. She was the widow of William F. Collins. Born in Stratford, on September 21, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Sophia Wagner Albright. A graduate of Stratford High School in 1944, Elizabeth retired as a secretary from Bridgeport Metal Goods in 1984. She and her husband then moved to New Hampshire where she worked for several years as a medical transcriber. While raising her children, she was involved in the PTA at Center School in Stratford and is a past President. She was also a columnist and sales rep for a local newspaper, The Stratford News. Upon moving to New Hampshire, she continued writing and was a columnist for many years for the Winchester Star in Winchester, NH. Upon the death of her husband in 2006, she returned to Connecticut. She is survived by her five children, Ted Somogyi and his wife Jackie of San Francisco, CA, Tom Collins and his wife Doreen of Easton, Barbara Meyers and her partner Gary Hurta of Stratford, Kathy Wakeley and her husband Bob of Trumbull and Leisa Bertini and her husband Millo of Trumbull, her eight grandchildren, Anthony DeBiase and his wife Alexandra, Michael DeBiase, Stephanie Meyers, David Wakeley and his wife Meredith, Sara Reynolds and her husband Mitch, John Wakeley and his fiancée Terra, Andrew and Paige Collins and seven great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Michael, Ava, Anthony, Zachary, Gavin and McKenzie. She is also survived by three brothers, Clifford and his wife Audrey of Shelton, Herbert and his wife Marion of Shelton and David and his wife Elaine of Elba, Alabama. Other survivors include a brother-in-law, Jack Collins of Shelton, brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed and Jean Collins, Irene and Bob Clark and Marilyn Beutel of Milford and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Tibor F. Somogyi, second husband, William F. Collins and two brothers, Frederick and Edward Albright. Also by sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Regina Albright, sister-in-law, Ruth Harris and her husband Bill, brother-in-law, Ray Collins and his wife Betty, sister-in-law, Janet Collins and brother-in-law, Leo Beutel. Friends may greet the family on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull with a prayer service taking place at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
