Obituary of Stephen R. Vrabel

Stephen R. Vrabel, age 79, of Shelton, formerly of Trumbull, beloved husband of Valerie Vitro Vrabel, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2014 in St. Vincent Medical Center with his devoted family by his side. Born in Smock, PA on June 13, 1935, he was a son of the late Joseph and Maria Skocik Vrabel. Mr. Vrabel was a design engineer for 42 years with Sikorsky Aircraft. He had a love of aviation. His greatest love, however, was his beloved family who will remember him as the most special husband, father and grandfather, especially the light of his life, his granddaughter, Alexandra. In addition to Valerie, his wife of 52 years, survivors include two daughters, Sherrie Magliocco and Donna Vrabel, both of Stratford, cherished granddaughter, Alexandra Marie Magliocco, a brother, Paul Vrabel and his wife Josephine of Brook Park, OH and a sister, Sophia Pelyak of Parma, OH as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his daughter, Janice Vrabel, son-in-law, Domenic Magliocco and ten brothers and sisters. Friends are invited to meet directly in Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Ave., Trumbull on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
