Obituary of Harry R. Adam

Harry Richard Adam, 68, of Ansonia, died on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family in Trumbull at his sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Richard Nichio’s home. The son of the late Nicholas and Julia Adam, Harry was born September 30, 1945 in Bridgeport and resided in Trumbull for most of his life. In his younger years, Harry was an all around athlete; MVP in nearly every sport that he played. He continued that love for sports throughout his life. Harry first worked in Bridgeport alongside his father in the family-owned Crown Budget Market; he then went off on his own to manage the Sugarcone Ice Cream Parlor in Monroe. For many years, he was a driver for the Connecticut Post and also was a taxi cab driver before retiring in 2003. Harry will especially be remembered for his generosity and impromptu acts of kindness. He never came to anyone’s home without bringing food, wine and flowers. He was benevolent, compassionate, considerate and nonjudgmental toward everyone. He managed to make friends effortlessly. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him; he loved nothing more than surrounding himself with family and friends. Throw in a good cup of coffee and some great pastry and call it a day! He was extremely fortunate and thankful to live among wonderful neighbors that truly supported and cared for him on a daily basis. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shelli Adam and Sam Heater and their two children, Grayson and Tatum, daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and David Seagren, son, Nicholas Adam, sister, Deborah Garofalo and sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Richard Nichio and many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the people at Seasons Hospice for their help and support. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. George Albanian Orthodox Church, 5490 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. with Trisagion services taking place at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to any of the following charities: Seasons Hospice Foundation, 1579 Straits Turnpike, Unit 1E, Middlebury, CT 06726, St. George Orthodox Church, 5490 Main St., Trumbull, CT 06611 or the American Cancer Society, 38 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06854, (https://donate.cancer.org/index?campaign).
