Before his retirement in 1996, Stephen was employed at Dresser Industries, where he had worked as a supervisor with over 44 years of dedicated service. He was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Church for 60 years and also was on their Men’s Club. Stephen loved to bowl, golf and found great enjoyment playing cards with his friends. In addition to being a great story teller, he was also quite skilled at woodworking and refinishing furniture. He enjoyed yardwork and took great pride in tending to his garden. He was a member of the Senior Bowling League in both Trumbull and Stratford and also the Baldwin Senior Center in Stratford. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include a son, Tom Stravecky and his partner Jamie Gillard of Florida, three daughters, Lynn Stravecky of Puerto Rico, Nancy Barone and her husband Chris of Trumbull and Michelle Starkey and her husband Rich of Stratford, eight grandchildren, Stephen Barone and his wife Jen, Andrew Barone and his wife Emily, Kenneth and James Barone, Jessica and Peter Rocafort-Stravecky and Allyson and Richard Starkey, his sisters, Martha Mikusky and Dorothy Acampora and her husband Sal, both of California and MaryAnn Lumpinski of Milford, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen Slovak. The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to Dr. Neal Fischbach and his nurse Renee Moye for their dedication over the last 16 months and also to Stephen’s homecare giver Julia, for her care and compassion. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial.
