Lifelong Shelton Resident

Catherine Marie (Kit) DeFilippo, loving wife of 54 years to Salvatore DeFilippo, Sr. entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Monday, April 18, 2005 with her devoted family by her side. Catherine was born on May 12, 1932, daughter of Archibald and Gertrude Dean. She was a lifelong resident of Shelton and attended Shelton schools. In addition to her husband, Survivors include her beloved children, Salvatore, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Theresa, daughters, Annemarie Chisholm and her husband, Roderick and Cathy Urbano and her husband, Thomas. Catherine loved her cherished grandchildren, Salvatore, III, Karlene, Kelly, Jessica and husband, Domenic and adoring great grandchildren, Jesse and Dylan. She is also survived by her brother, Frank Dean and sisters, Eleanor Carra, Edith Laird, Grace Passaro and Patricia Filanowski and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews. Catherine was pre-deceased by brothers, Archibald (Buddy) Dean, Steven Dean, Clifford Dean, John Dean, Michael Dean and sisters, Thelma Haschak, Shirley Dickerson, Martha Kobrowski and Gertrude Dean.
Mrs. DeFilippo worked along with her husband in business for many years. Catherine dedicated her life to helping others. She touched the lives of many children as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Shelton serving as a deaconess, Sunday school teacher, choir member and the Woman’s Mission Group. Catherine also volunteered her services at Griffin Hospital, Hewitt Nursing Homes, Spooner House and other Valley charitable organizations.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will take place on Friday at a time to be announced. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
