BONACCI– Basil L. Bonacci, age 87, of Bridgeport, died on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 in St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in Carbondale, PA on April 24, 1921, he was a son of the late Angelo and Mary Cerra Bonacci. In 1938, Basil broke a world speed record in the 100 yard dash. A decorated WW II U.S. Navy veteran, he served aboard the USS Thatcher, which was torpedoed three times and the USS Uvalde. He served in the American, European and Asiatic-Pacific Theaters. Basil was a retired employee of the DuPont Corp. and was a member of the Bethany Senior Citizen’s of Bridgeport. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Bonacci, a niece and nephew, Vivian Bonacci and John Puskar Jr. Survivors include two brothers, Anthony Bonacci and his wife Nina of Orange, John Bonacci of Bridgeport, a sister, Angela Puskar and her husband John of Devon, two sister in laws, Sadie Traskiewicze and Marion Convertino, nieces and nephews, Michael Puskar, Maria Gaines, John Jr. and Robert Bonacci, Anna Maria Craun, Judy Drenzek, Anthony T. Bonacci, Nina Louise Walsh, Karen Pirhala, Linda Vincze, Angela Kramer, John and Frank Convertino, Grace Narreau and Theresa Convertino, as well as several great nieces and great nephews. Funeral InformationFuneral services will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 8 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 9 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 pm. Donations Information
