Raymond S. Tomasko, age 80, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Diana Carbone Tomasko, died on Saturday, February 4, 2012 in Bridgeport Hospital after a short illness. Born in Bridgeport on February 23, 1931, he was a son of the late Stephen Sr. and Mary Spodnick Tomasko. A resident of Fairfield for 47 years, he was a retired Engineering Department Head for the Unisys Co. of Great Neck, NY. Ray was a graduate of Fairfield Preparatory School and received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Ray’s work included projects for the Department of Defense which required him to travel extensively throughout the world. He was a very active member of St. Pius X Church, Fairfield having volunteered on many committees. Ray enjoyed family events and was an avid chess and bridge player. In addition to his beloved wife of 54 years, Diana, survivors include a brother, Stephen Tomasko Jr., of Austin, TX, brother-in-law, Louis Carbone and his wife Heidi of Newtown, nephews and niece, David Carbone, Kerry Carbone, Patricia Hauseman and Christopher Carbone and two great nephews, Bryant and Michael Carbone and a great niece, Noel Carbone. Funeral InformationFuneral services will take place on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Fairfield for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford.
