The Comfort Of A HugContinued If you have a dog (or maybe even a cat) check with the local nursing homes and see if they will allow you to bring the animal to visit with the residents. There are very strict rules about this - that include bathing the animal (some people are allergic & germs are also a consideration). There is something about looking into an animal's eyes that can melt away great sorrow. If you have elderly neighbors, get to know them, create a community of caring right where you are. You can do this. We all can do this.
